Revised Definition of Terms Used in Statutory Plan and Broad Use Terms (January 2022)
The Town Planning Board (TPB) on 11 January 2022 promulgated the revised Broad Use Terms (BUT) and Definition of Terms (DoT) used in Statutory Plan for the following, which takes immediate effect:
‘Agricultural Use’ and ‘Animal Boarding Establishment’
To draw a clear distinction between ‘Agricultural Use’ and ‘Animal Boarding Establishment’, the DoT of ‘Agricultural Use’ is revised to mean that apart from growing crops and plants, land used for rearing of animals for the purpose of providing food and other products would be regarded as ‘Agricultural Use’. The DoT of ‘Animal Boarding Establishment’ is also revised to cover establishments that are not required to obtain a license from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and to include animal breeding centres, animal recreation centres and animal training centres. The BUT for ‘Animal Boarding Establishment’ is also updated.
‘Holiday Camp’ and ‘Tent Camping Ground’
To draw a clear distinction between ‘Holiday Camp’ and ‘Tent Camping Ground’, the DoT of ‘Holiday Camp’ is revised to mean any place where huts, cabins, shelters or other structures are put up as short-term accommodation for leisure for people on outings or on vacation. It includes tent camping ground which is privately owned and/or commercially operated. The DoT of ‘Tent Camping Ground’ is revised in parallel to reflect that such use excludes those which are privately owned and/or commercially operated.
‘Petrol Filling Station’
To facilitate the policy initiatives to promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and their associated supporting facilities and to gradually convert some of the existing petrol filling stations to quick charging stations in the medium to long term that offer charging services to EVs, the DoT of ‘Petrol Filling Station’ is revised to also cover the supply of electricity to EVs.
